9:15am - 10:00am
General Session: "Glass Ceiling or the Highest Star"
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Linda Miles

To dispel the myth that what you are doing is a stopping off place until a better job comes along, Linda Miles, one of dentistry’s top management consultants enthusiastically outlines how one’s attitude and their daily behavior in the office determines whether it's a job or a fulfilling career. Linda's first job in dentistry in 1961at age 17 was $1 per hour. (Ironically, she never felt underpaid.)  Knowing one’s priorities in dentistry, being a sponge in a fountain when it comes to CE, and being a role model of leadership determines whether an office manager burns out early or stays for the long haul. Dentistry’s #1 challenge is finding and retaining great employees. Together, we can change that.
This exciting course will outline the 10 Characteristics of the Ideal Dental Practice Administrator, (the one all dentists dream of having on their team). At the end of this session, attendees will grade themselves, and leave with a report card. By their next workday, they will know what areas of their behavior or skills are already ideal or how they can improve. More importantly, they will leave to go home inspired to reach for the TOP STAR and be proud to be a DENTAL OFFICE MANAGER. One final thought: "If you love what you do, you’ll never work another day in your life"

The Joys and Challenges of Dental Office Management
presented by Rhonda Savage, DDS
So many dental practices struggle with success due to ineffective communication, changes in staff and changes in systems. The challenges of a smoothly run office include issues with scheduling, hygiene department effectiveness, patient reactivation, collections, insurance management, and office guidelines in dealing with patients and the use of computers and other technology. As a clinical or business manager, your role is absolutely critical and important in determining the success of the practice.
As a former dental assistant and front office coordinator, Dr. Savage knows how hard you work for your doctor and the challenges that face you on a daily basis. This lively and informative program outlines ways to be efficient in your work that not only will increase productivity, but will create an office environment that has great camaraderie, an atmosphere of teamwork, and provides a great learning experience while caring for your patients.
In a nutshell, this course will give you dozens of take home and use ideas, make you leave feeling extremely valuable, and along the way, will prove to you that dentistry is and should be: FUN, EXCITING and REWARDING for patients, dentists and especially, staff!
