About this Master Series Webinar

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) greatly expanded the privacy and security requirements for practices under HIPAA. New mandates will force practices to adopt policies and procedures in order to avoid new enforcement provisions and significantly increased penalties. Critical changes include: onerous new provisions for accounting of disclosures; new patient rights that you will need to incorporate into your policies and staff training; new requirements should your patient data be breached; modifications that will need to be made to your business associate relationships; and increased penalties up to $50,000 per violation to a maximum of $1.5 million a year in the most egregious cases of data breaches. One of the nation’s leading privacy experts will lead you through these changes and how they will impact your practice.

Following this 90-minute session, you will be able to:

  • Identify the new requirements placed on your practice by the ARRA statute and related regulations;
  • Learn more about the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act and what it means to your practice.
  • Understand the timeline for the government’s implementation of these requirements; and
  • Recognize the steps your practice will need to take to prepare for these changes and avoid government enforcement action.

Who should attend?
