Koppit Dental Care
Q: What type of practice do you work in?
A: General Dentistry
Q: What is your title?
A: Office Manager
Q: How long have you been with this practice?
A: 3.5 years
Q: What are some of the duties you are responsible for within your practice?
A: All things front desk!! I have direct contact with most of our patients, from greeting them when they walk through the door to wishing them a good day at the end of their time at our office. I strive to assure each patient has a positive experience with our practice. I handle telephone calls, insurance verification, treatment planning and presentation, accounts receivable, patient communication, HIPAA and OSHA training.
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
A: I am a people person. I love our patients and our team! The most rewarding part of my career has always been patient interaction;getting to know our patients and helping them achieve their dental treatment needs. I’m also a “number” person so I enjoy tracking reports and stats. I love learning-it keeps me motivated. Right now I am starting to learn medical billing! I am a proud dental nerd!
Q: What do you see as some of the benefits of membership to AADOM?
A: In my opinion, the absolute best benefit of AADOM membership is the wonderful and amazing people I have met at the annual conference. The connections that are made and the friendships that are formed cannot be beat! I know that I always have a sister (or brother) that I can call on at anytime. I like that the forum is active and relevant to issues that most of us deal with on a daily basis. The Observer is a great publication! The chapters keep us active locally. The conference is AWESOME!
Q: What other services would you like to see AADOM provide for dental office managers?
A: In the past I would have requested a closer local study club , however, since the inception of local chapters that is no longer necessary. I find the amount of education opportunities, the forum, publications, conference, website, and chapters fills my personal needs at this time. Perhaps a mid-year regional conference would be nice!
Q: Have you ever attended an AADOM conference?
Q: Can you tell us about your experience?
A: My first conference was Nashville 2011. I was clueless, to say the least. Then, I met Lynn, Ann, and Julia and never looked back!!! I learned on my first day that there was no possibility of being a wallflower. I haven’t missed a conference since! I was so inspired by the FAADOM ceremony that I set a goal to be a FAADOM in Scottsdale 2012, and I did!
Q: Are you planning to attend AADOM17?
Q: Are you a Fellow or are you pursuing Fellowship?
A: I became a Fellow in 2012.
Q: What practice management software do you use?
Q: What company do you order the majority of your dental supplies from?
Q: Do you or your practice support any charitable organizations?
A: My practice supports individual patient goals, ie:Eagle Scout projects, hygiene kits for local projects. I am personally involved with a local homeless shelter, serving on their Board of Directors, Leadership Team, Mentor Team, Coordinator Team. The shelter is open October-April. I commit to weekly meetings during the shelter season and my employer is very supportive. My husband and I coordinate all volunteers and meals for the last week of the year that includes the Christmas holiday. We are there every evening, most of Christmas Day and most mornings—and then go to our full time jobs! We’ve been spending our holidays at the shelter for 9 years!
Q: What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
A: I enjoy my flower gardens, walking, volunteering at the shelter, home decorating, my grandchildren, the beach and spending time with my husband and family.
