Leading a Legacy Practice Into the Future

With more than 22 years in dentistry, Jessica Sharp has experienced the profession from multiple perspectives. She began her career chairside and has since grown into a leadership role at North Seattle Dental, a private general practice in Seattle, Washington.

Today, Jessica helps lead a team at a practice that has been serving its community since 1957. With longtime team members, two providers, and a mix of traditional dentistry and newer technology, the practice brings together decades of experience with a continued focus on innovation and the patient experience.

Finding a Community That Understood

Jessica discovered AADOM about four years ago while attending a continuing education course. Someone handed her a flyer and encouraged her to check it out.

What she found was something she had been missing: a community of people who understood the unique challenges and successes that come with dental management.

After joining and connecting with other members online, Jessica quickly realized, “These are my people.” AADOM became a place she could turn when she had questions, encountered an unfamiliar situation, or simply needed insight from others who understood the role.

That community also gave her practical resources she could bring back to the practice. From creating stronger systems and improving morning huddles to finding new ways to build efficiencies, Jessica gained tools that helped her turn ideas into action.

Bringing Ideas Back to the Practice

Jessica has also made the AADOM Conference an important part of her professional development. Through conference, she has built friendships, made connections, and discovered ideas she can put directly into practice.

For Jessica, the value goes beyond learning something new. It is about finding solutions that can improve efficiency, demonstrate value, and make a meaningful difference for the team and the practice.

Her doctors have supported that growth, too. In fact, AADOM was part of Jessica’s negotiations when she accepted her current position. This year, she took that support one step further by bringing her insurance coordinator to conference with her.

Looking Ahead

Now, Jessica is focused on what comes next.

Since joining her current practice, she has helped move the office from being partially automated to fully digital, with the team continuing to explore AI and other technologies that can create better systems for both the practice and its patients.

The results are already showing. When Jessica started, the practice had around 150 patient reviews. In less than a year, that number grew to approximately 500 as the team implemented new technology and systems focused on improving the patient experience.

For Jessica, the excitement is in continuing that momentum: discovering new technology, strengthening systems, supporting her team, and finding new ways to create an even better experience for patients.

And along the way, she knows she has a community of dental management professionals behind her.
