From Busy to Fully Invested: How One Office Manager Found Her Community

Lisa Smith’s AADOM journey is a relatable one—joining, stepping away due to a demanding schedule, and ultimately returning with a stronger sense of purpose. The difference the second time? She made the investment herself—and that changed everything.

With more ownership, Lisa became fully engaged, diving into continuing education, participating in forums, and connecting with peers. What she found was more than just resources—it was a supportive community. In a role that can feel isolating, having other office managers to turn to for real-time advice and shared experiences made a lasting impact.

Her experience deepened at her first AADOM Conference, where she built relationships, gained practical insights, and felt inspired to grow even further. That moment sparked her decision to pursue her FAADOM designation and bring new ideas back to her team.

Today, Lisa no longer feels like she has to navigate challenges alone. Her takeaway is simple: AADOM is what you make of it—but even a small investment of time can lead to meaningful growth, connection, and confidence.

Lisa Smith:

Lisa Smith has nearly 30 years of experience in the dental field, beginning her career as a dental assistant primarily in the endodontic specialty. Early on, she expanded her skill set by cross-training in front office operations, creating a strong foundation that naturally led her into practice management.

Throughout her career, one of her greatest passions has been helping patients feel at ease. Whether working with individuals who are anxious, in pain, or uncertain about treatment, she is committed to providing comfort, clarity, and compassionate care.

For the past 10 years, she has served as the practice manager at Boulos Dental Care, where she has played a key role in the practice’s growth — including the expansion to a second location in 2019. She now leads and supports a team of 13 across both offices and is dedicated to fostering a collaborative culture where both team members and patients feel valued and supported.

A proud member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers (AADOM), Lisa will be inducted into the 2026 Class of AADOM Fellows (FAADOM), at this year’s Conference in Orlando, FL.
