Q: What type of practice do you work in?
A: General Dentistry
Q: What is your title?
A: Office Manager, Community Relations Director
Q: How long have you been with this practice?
A: 7 years
Q: What are some of the duties you are responsible for within your practice?
A: In my role as office manager I oversee the daily operations of our practice including: leading our morning huddles, insurance process, running of monthly reports, review of the P & L, chart audits, facility audits, review of KPI’s, marketing of the practice as well as community event planning.
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
A: It’s my goal to help our patients understand their treatment plan so they can fulfill not only their dental needs but their dental wishes, like a beautiful smile! The “after” moment once their dental work has been completed is so rewarding.
Q: What do you see as some of the benefits of membership to AADOM?
A: My favorite thing about AADOM is “community”. I found my tribe years ago and it has made such a difference in my life. It’s rewarding to connect with people in our industry who understand my position and can offer advice or encouragement. I also love the conference! It is so much fun to be around like minded individuals who want to learn AND have fun!
Q: What advice would you give to a new office manager just starting out?
A: Never stop learning! I love to read Facebook groups, the AADOM forum, leadership books and watch webinars to ensure I’m the best I can be for me and for my doctors. Things like dental codes for instance change quickly and if you are able to stay on top of things and current, your practice benefits so much!
Q: Do you or your practice support any charitable organizations or events?
A: We have the “make an appointment, make a difference” campaign in our office. Every new patient we see nominates a charity/non-profit of their choice and our dental group donates $5. I am also the vice president of our local AADOM chapter and I’m so happy that my doctors support me in this role. Our team participates in the breast cancer walk each year and one of our doctors is in the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign. We also participate in the Go Red for Women program each year for the American Heart Association and we volunteer at our local Boys and Girls Club and many, many more!
Q: What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
A: My husband and I love to travel and attend concerts! Music is a huge part of our lives. We spend most of our free time with our families, especially my new nephew, Gunner, who is only six weeks old. Baby snuggles are the best!
