CDA Students Find Job Placement with Help from Southern ME Chapter
Submitted by Stacey Singleton, FAADOM, Southern ME Chapter President
As President of our Southern ME AADOM Chapter, we have a great presence within our community! I am an adjunct dental professor at our local community college and just finished teaching a much-needed dental assisting certificate program. Part of the program- I incorporated resume writing and interview processes for the dental field.
We had 4 of our chapter members come out for 3 hours and volunteer their time “interviewing” the students. We set it up where each student had to interview for 10-15 minutes with each manager. This gave such a wonderful perspective to each student on what to expect interviewing in a dental practice.
Each manager then gave me feedback about each student/interviewee on recommendations that you may not get in a traditional interview. I shared the information with the students to allow for constructive criticism and praise on the process.
It was a huge success and the entire dental assistant class had immediate job placement!
