How to Find Dental CE

Audrey Clements, MAADOM with text, "Real-world insights from AADOM authors"

As learners, we’re always looking for new pieces of information.

Today, it might be learning how to build a bookcase or decorating a cake. It’s no different in the dental practice.

New materials and procedures develop almost every day.

How do we keep up with the technologies, materials, or software?

Through continuing education (CE).

Dental CE is extremely important for the entire dental team to keep up with ever-changing information.

For the dentist and the dental hygienist, CE is required to keep their license current.

The dental assistants and the front office team may or may not need the CE to stay certified, but they should always be willing to better themselves.

What’s the best way to discover new dental continuing education classes?

1. Dental meetings

Conventions and regular dental meetings offer a wide range of classes. Some are just for specific professionals. Others are offered to the entire team as a building block for office balance and productivity.

2. Online platforms

Many product manufacturers offer continuing education on their products, new technology, methodologies, or simply as a refresher for a product that your office already uses. These classes are usually available at little to no cost.

3. Representatives

Your dental representatives may offer lunch and learns or sponsor a local dental meeting to demo a new product or update information about current technologies.

4. AADOM

AADOM meetings are a valuable source of education for your front office team as well as the practice manager. They offer courses online, locally, and at the national convention.

While CE is important for ongoing learning in the dental field, it is also important to invest in yourself.

There are a number of great books and videos available to help you grow as a team member and person alike. These methods can be for personal use or as a group learning experience.

Remember, we are all learners. We just need to understand how to access the resources available to us as dental professionals.

In turn, we’ll grow both as an individual and team, which ultimately helps us better the lives of our patients.
