Q: What type of practice do you work in?
A: General Dentistry
Q: What is your title?
A: Office Manager
Q: How long have you been with this practice?
A: 3.5 years
Q: What are some of the duties you are responsible for within your practice?
A: I’m responsible for many aspects of the day-to-day activities in the practice including managing all claims and collections. I also oversee the hiring of new team members, making sure they are appropriately trained and ready for all day-to-day operations. We opened a new location this year, so much of my time and responsibilities have shifted to all opening a new business.
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
A: I love accomplishing tasks. Really, any task that challenges me and comes together correctly is exciting. I love seeing a new doctor active on an insurance website after credentialing. I love having patients call to schedule a new patient appointment at a new location after putting a lot of effort into advertising. And, still to this day, nothing makes me happier than having a claim paid after months of appeals! It’s the BEST FEELING!
Q: What do you see as some of the benefits of membership to AADOM?
A: Being new to AADOM within the past year, I find everything a benefit! I love checking the forum daily to see what others are struggling with or inquiring about. So often, I am having the same issues as those members so I can benefit from the advice given or can definitely add some input. It’s a great tool!
Q: What other services would you like to see AADOM provide for dental office managers?
A: I am not sure there is anything not being offered.
After the exciting addition of the specialty network, (announced at the conference), I think most of my needs are being fulfilled.
Q: Have you ever attended an AADOM conference?
A: Yes
Q: Can you tell us about your experience?
A: I loved it! This year in Phoenix was my first time attending. As an AADOM scholarship recipient, I was so honored and excited to learn as much as I could. The schedule was well prepared, the classes were great, and all the in between with exhibitors and speakers was awesome. Anyone who is questioning whether or not they should go-GO!
Q: Are you planning to attend AADOM18?
A: YES!
Q: Are you a Fellow or are you pursuing Fellowship?
A: I’m not at this time but would really like to pursue Fellowship.

A: Denticon by PlanetDDS
Q: What company do you order the majority of your dental supplies from?
A: Patterson Dental
Q: Do you or your practice support any charitable organizations?
A: Yes, we donate samples throughout the year and our doctor/owner has taken mission trips to provide dental care to people in Haiti.
Q: What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
A: I am in school, finishing my Bachelors Degree, and have a fifteen month old so there is not much time to do anything else! My husband coaches football, which makes weekends in the fall exciting and busy.
