Power Bite #14: Lead with Intention

Power Bite 14 - Lead with Intention

January has a Way of Waking Something Up In Us

A fresh calendar.
A reset in energy.
A sense of possibility.

But leadership doesn’t automatically reset just because the date changes. That’s where intention comes in.

What It Means to Lead With Intention

Leading with intention means deciding how you want to show up before the day decides for you.

It’s not about perfection.
It’s about clarity.

Clarity in how you respond.
Clarity in what you focus on.
Clarity in the energy you bring to your team.

When you lead with intention, you’re choosing your leadership on purpose—before the schedule fills up, before problems start knocking, before emails pile on.

Pause and Reflect

Before the month gets away from you, take a moment to ask yourself:

  • What kind of leadership does my team need from me this month?
  • What behaviors do I want to model consistently?
  • What am I committed to protecting?

Your time?
Your tone?
Your core values?

These questions aren’t meant to overwhelm you—they’re meant to ground you.

Make It Visible

Here’s the key:
Your team can only follow your intention if they can see it.

Choose one leadership intention for the month and say it out loud.

For example:

  • This month, I’m focused on calm, clear communication.
  • I’m working on being more consistent with follow-through.
  • I want your help holding me accountable.

When you share your intention, you invite your team into the process—and leadership becomes a shared effort, not a solo one.

Turn Intention Into Practice

Intentions don’t stick unless they’re practiced.

That’s why your Power Sheet is designed to help you clarify your leadership intention and return to it daily—especially on the days when leadership feels heavy.

For AADOM members, this resource is available exclusively inside the eCampus.

Use it consistently.
Revisit it often.
Invite your team to support you.

You may be surprised by how powerful one clear intention can be—for both you and your team.
