Q:  What type of practice do you work in?
A:  General Dentistry

Q: What is your title?
A:  Office Manager, Patient Care/Insurance Coordinator

Q:  How long have you been with this practice?
A:  2.5 years

Q:  What are some of the duties you are responsible for within your practice?
A:  My main role is to keep and fill the doctor and hygienists’ schedule with the appropriate amount of time for each procedure without stressing the team and maximizing our potential. I am solely responsible for input of insurance payments and cross referencing all charges and deposits with clinical notes and end of day sheets as well as running the reports needed to monitor our collections. I work to find solutions for any concerns the practice or team members may have to continue to grow the practice.

Q:  What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
A:  Still, to this day, I think the most rewarding part of my career has been while at Katy Trail Dental. Being able to see our growth personally and professionally, with team members from our past and present, and help them grow individually in their profession. We went from having 3 full-time team members and 2 part-time team members working 30hrs a week to a team of 6, soon to be 7 full-time team members working nearly 40hrs Mon -Thurs. I’m so proud of us!! Our team bond is incredible!

Q:  What do you see as some of the benefits of membership to AADOM?
A:  AADOM has been great for me. It really took my interest in continuing education to the next level. It is pretty much all I do in my free time now! I love the CE courses related to managing the office or even just running the front office. These have been a great tool for growing professionally and staying current.

Q:  What advice would you give to a new office manager just starting out?
A:  The advice I would give a new manager is you don’t need the title to be the leader. Be open with your team and actively listen to them. Let employees know they are able to communicate with you the things that have been an issue in the office and together try to come up with some type of solution. Let them know you are available. And most of all be respectful.

Q:  Do you or your practice support any charitable organizations or events?
A:  I am an active member of my church and any charitable organization I can be involved with. I mostly spend my time giving to my practice, team members and close knit family and significant other. I am a huge advocate for Young Living and healing the body and mind through mindfulness, self-care and holistic approaches.

Q:  What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
A:   I love listening to podcasts, maintaining a budget, aspire to own a home, love all things essential oils and monogrammed. I love my family and spend as much time with them as I can. And I love the sun and the beach! When can we get back to that?
