Smile and Find the GOOD [Free Download]

May 2020 AADOM Calendar

I’m Kelli Marsh, the Membership Development Manager at AADOM! I love to SMILE, and my human nature is to find GOOD in all things.

Let’s talk about the word SMILE. I know most of you like using this term when communicating with your patients, “We’re here to help bring out your best SMILE!” I’m a firm believer that it’s essential to build a warm, genuine relationship with your patients. I’d like to suggest a simple tip to help with that.

Let’s role-play together. Pretend it’s first thing in the morning, your team huddle just ended, a patient is walking in the door, and the phone rings. How would you answer the phone? Say this greeting out loud while reading it; “Thank you for choosing Crooked Creek Family Dental. This is Kelli. How may I help you?” Now, I want you to say it again. This time smile while saying the greeting. Can you hear the difference in the tone of your voice? Isn’t it a much warmer greeting?

Something as simple as smiling when you answer the phone can make a lasting impression on your patients. Share this with your team and maybe flag your phone with a smiley face, so it reminds everyone to add a smile to their greeting.

How can we find the good in all things?

During the last couple of months, life has been extra stressful for most of us. Even though it’s in my nature to focus on the positives, I’ve found myself using a technique that I find very helpful, and I want to share it with all of you. No matter how bad the situation may seem, there is always something to be thankful for. Each day take a minute and list 2 to 3 things that you’re grateful for in your life. Make sure to write them down in a safe place. It can be your family, friends, faith, pets, or the job you have. No matter how large or small, it is essential to remind yourself of all the good things you have in your life. When something doesn’t go the way that you want, refer back to your list and try to find comfort.

Always focus on gratitude, and yes a smile and a stressful day won’t seem so bad.

God Bless!
