Meet Stacey Singleton, EFDA, AADOM’s October Featured Member

Kennebunk, ME

Q:  What type of practice do you work in?
A:  Pediatric and general dentistry

Q: What is your title?
A:  Office Manager, EFDA

Q:  How long have you been with this practice?
A:  11 years

Q:  What are some of the duties you are responsible for within your practice?
A:  I manage a pediatric dental practice and family dental practice that share the same building. The doctors are father and daughter.

My general responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, accounts payable and receivable, treatment consultations, seeing patients when schedule changes for treatment, scheduling, OR cases, reviewing upcoming schedules to evaluate production, treatment, and team needs – all while smiling!

Q:  What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
A:  I have been in dentistry for the past 24 years. I have been able to experience years of chairside assisting in all aspects of dentistry.

Joining my current practice 11 years ago, I had the opportunity to continue my education and go for my EFDA licensure. This was so enjoyable I ended up teaching the program at the local college as well.

For the most recent COVID-19 pandemic transition of staff to unemployment, updated communication, weekly zoom calls to new infection control protocols, and training. We re-opened seamlessly, and I am so proud of having such a supportive team.

Also, I am in the process of building a new 10,000 square foot dental office for both practices to share with an estimated October opening. I never thought that some of my daily duties would include site meetings with engineers, contractors, electrical, plumbing, and equipment specialists.

I also just recently signed a new pediatric associate to start with us in October. And just acquired a patient base from a retiring general dentist in the area.

I am beyond proud of these recent accomplishments and look forward to the new and exciting adventures ahead! My reward is the appreciation my doctors and team show me.

Q:  What do you see as some of the benefits of membership to AADOM?
A:  The camaraderie amongst fabulous people that have the same underlying goals of managing the dental team and practice.

The availability of continuing education, as well as the ability to ask questions and get feedback from other offices’ procedures and protocols.

Plus, the annual AADOM conferences are the best!!!

Q:  What advice would you give to a new office manager just starting out?
A:  Don’t be afraid to ask for help! It’s ok not to know the answer; it’s important you find out the answer and convey it in a confident way.

Q:  Do you or your practice support any charitable organizations or events?
A:  Both practices are involved in our local communities. We participate in school education, backpack programs, daycare dental hygiene days, Library 5K Road Race, Halloween Candy Buy Back (sent to the US Troops), and numerous donations to local sports and school programs.

Q:  What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
A:  Gardening, canning, cooking, photography, motorcycle rides, car shows, fishing, hunting, and time with family and friends.
