Q: What type of practice do you work in?
A: General Dentistry
Q: What is your title?
A: Office Manager
Q: How long have you been with this practice?
A: Eight Years
Q: What are some of the duties you are responsible for within your practice?
A: I oversee three locations; Mason City, Belmond & Britt, Iowa, maintaining office services by organizing office operations and procedures, preparing payroll, support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures, control correspondence and accounts receivable. I also manage agendas for our owners, schedule staff meetings, and oversee and implement staffing needs on daily basis. My days also include reviewing and approving supply requisitions as well as assigning and monitoring clerical functions. From a communications standpoint I oversee and manage all social media platforms and communications, work as the lead for all business communications, both internal and external and facilitate all marketing needs and requests. Most importantly, I provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
A: Honestly, the most rewarding part of my job is watching the relationships grow between our team, not only with one another, but with our patients. Making work an enjoyable place to be has made navigating my role all the more easy. Our practice motto is: Where patients become family. Well, it’s so much more than that, our team inside these walls is a family.
Q: What do you see as some of the benefits of membership to AADOM?
A: What more could you ask for than a community of like-minded peer to lean on from all parts of the world? I’ve appreciated AADOM in so many ways, it’s difficult to name just a few.
Q: What advice would you give to a new office manager just starting out?
A: Hang tight. You’re about to embark on one of the more stressful, yet rewarding careers in a progressive industry. But, I tell you, hang tight.
Q: Do you or your practice support any charitable organizations or events?
A: Yes – many! We are heavily involved in our community charitable organizations and events. Our communities are what makes us, we give back every chance we get.
Q: What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
A: I enjoy spending time with my busy family; husband, 3 boys and a dog named Bear. When not on the sidelines cheering my kids on, we choose to be outdoors.
